Google Pixel 9a: Price in India, Launch Date, Specs, Design, Colour Options, and More – What to Expect in March

Google is preparing to launch its next budget-friendly smartphone, the Pixel 9a, and based on the latest leaks, it may arrive sooner than anticipated. While an early release is expected in March, if that doesn’t happen, the phone could be announced during Google I/O 2025, taking place from May 20-21. With new design leaks and expected specs surfacing online, here's what we know so far about the upcoming Pixel 9a.

Pixel 9a Launch Date (Expected)

Reports indicate that Google may reveal the Pixel 9a on March 19, with sales starting on March 26—two months earlier than previous models like the Pixel 7a and 8a, which were launched in May during Google I/O.

Pixel 9a Design and Colour Options

According to leaked renders from Android Headlines, the Pixel 9a will be available in four colour options: Obsidian (Black), Porcelain (White), Iris (Blue), and Peony (Pink). It’s also possible that Google will move away from the bar-style camera island seen in previous Pixel devices. Instead, the back may feature a flush design to accommodate a larger 5,100mAh battery—the largest ever in a Pixel phone.

Pixel 9a Price in India (Expected)

The Pixel 9a is rumoured to be priced at $499 (approximately Rs 43,300) for the 128GB storage model in the US, while the 256GB variant could cost $599 (around Rs 52,000). Pricing in India may differ, but if Google follows a similar pricing structure to past releases, the Pixel 9a could fall within a similar range. For reference, the Pixel 8a launched in India at Rs 52,999 for the 128GB model and Rs 59,999 for the 256GB version.

Pixel 9a Specifications (Rumoured)

The Pixel 9a is expected to maintain a compact form with a 6.28-inch display featuring 2,700 nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is likely to be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It will run Android 15 out of the box, with seven years of software and security updates promised by Google.

For photography, the Pixel 9a is rumoured to have a 48MP primary sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide lens on the rear, with a 13MP front camera. Charging speeds will be capped at 23W for wired charging and 7.5W for wireless charging. Although these speeds are not the fastest, the large 5,100mAh battery is expected to provide significantly improved battery life compared to previous models.
